
Reverend Ken Hennings

Reverend Ken Hennings was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to Andy and Mary Hennings. He graduated from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas, and Concordia Senior College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1973.
Pastor Hennings’ first position was the dual parish of Trinity, Uvalde, and St. Paul, La Pryor, Texas. In 1978 he accepted the Call to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where he served as pastor until 1991. He then accepted the Call to serve as the Executive Director of the Board of Mission Administration of the Texas District in Austin, TX. He served as Mission and Ministry Coordinator of the Texas District and worked with the Board of Mission Administration in directing the District’s mission outreach until he was elected President in 2007. He and the Mission and Ministry Facilitators’ team continue to provide leadership for the congregations of the Texas District to “reach the lost, disciple the saved, and care for people…locally and globally.”
Pastor Hennings and his wife, Val, are members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. He has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lutheran Outdoors Ministry of Texas and North American Mission Executives. He also served as Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Zone Advisor and Lutherans for Life Chapter Advisor. He has served the Synod on a number of task forces relating to missions and is currently facilitating the “New Church Development” task force.
Pastor and Mrs. Hennings have four children and two grandchildren: Kim (and Eric) Otten, Nathaniel and Matthew of Ft. Worth, TX; Rev. Paul (and Ellie) Hennings of St. Cloud, Minnesota; Rev. Luke (and Lisa) Hennings of Surprise, Arizona; and Erika Hennings of New York City, New York.
